Areas Served Across Metro Atlanta

Metro Atlanta is a region of more than six million people spread across a ring of cities north, east, south and west of Atlanta itself. Flanagan Law works throughout it, from an office in Sandy Springs just inside the Perimeter.

People here describe where they live by their relationship to a highway. Inside Interstate 285, the Perimeter, means the city core and the older close-in neighbourhoods. Outside it means the suburban ring, where most of the region’s growth has happened over the last thirty years. Interstate 75 and Interstate 85 run through the middle and merge as the Downtown Connector. Interstate 20 crosses east to west, and Georgia State Route 400 carries the northern suburbs down into the city.

Those same roads are where the region’s worst collisions happen, because they mix heavy commercial freight with commuter volume at speed. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport south of the city is the busiest passenger airport in the world, and the freight moving on I-75, I-85 and I-285 to serve the region is why metro Atlanta sees so many commercial truck crashes relative to its size.

North of the Perimeter sit Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton and Johns Creek, most of them strung along the GA-400 corridor. To the west are Marietta, Smyrna, Vinings and East Cobb, across the Chattahoochee. East and northeast are Chamblee, Doraville, Norcross, Peachtree Corners and Decatur.

Each of those places has its own character and its own traffic pattern, but they share a road system, a hospital network and a court system, and someone hurt in any of them is dealing with the same insurers.

Serious trauma across the region goes to Grady Memorial Hospital, the Level I trauma centre, with Northside Hospital, Emory University Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph’s and Piedmont Atlanta serving the northern and central metro. MARTA operates rail and bus service through the core, with the red line running north through Sandy Springs to North Springs. The region’s universities include the Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, Emory University and Kennesaw State University in the northwest metro.

Distance in metro Atlanta is measured in time rather than miles, and the same trip can take twenty minutes or an hour depending on the direction and the hour. For anyone dealing with an injury, that is not a small thing. It is the reason we travel to clients rather than expecting them to travel to us, and the reason a case from Alpharetta or Decatur is handled no differently from one that happened a mile from the office.
